아얏 (근동 가설)

Aiath, also called Ai, is an Old World town named once in the Book of Mormon, in Nephi’s quotation of Isaiah. It is the first place in a list of towns along the line of an Assyrian advance toward Jerusalem: “He is come to Aiath, he is passed to Migron; at Michmash he hath laid up his carriages” (2 Nephi 20:28). The verses that follow trace the same march through Geba, Ramath, Gibeah of Saul, Anathoth, and other towns, ending at Nob within sight of Jerusalem (2 Nephi 20:29-32).

The text gives no location for Aiath and no detail about it beyond its place in this itinerary, where it has already been passed by the advancing army.
