Antum was a Nephite land containing the hill Shim, where the record keeper Ammaron deposited the sacred engravings of his people to keep them from being destroyed (Mormon 1:3; 2:17). When Mormon was about ten, Ammaron told him to go to the land Antum and the hill Shim at age twenty-four and take the plates of Nephi, leaving the remaining records in place, and to engrave on the plates what he had observed (Mormon 1:3-4). Mormon did so (Mormon 2:17). The city of Jashon stood near the land where Ammaron had hidden the records; the Nephites fled to Jashon in the 345th year as the Lamanites pursued them (Mormon 2:16-17). Mormon later returned to the hill Shim and took up all the records Ammaron had hidden when the Lamanites were about to overrun the land (Mormon 4:23). The record gives no further detail on the location or extent of the land of Antum.
