예루살렘²에 있는 아맬레카이인

An unnamed Amalekite who lived in the city of Jerusalem, a city built by the Lamanites, the Amalekites, and the people of Amulon around 90 BC. The Amalekites, dissenters of Nephite descent, and the Amulonites were harder in their hearts than the Lamanites and pushed the Lamanites toward greater wickedness; many of them followed the order of the Nehors, after which they had built their synagogues (Alma 21:2-4).

When the missionary Aaron entered one of these synagogues to preach, this Amalekite stood up and contended with him. He challenged Aaron’s testimony, asked whether Aaron had seen an angel and why angels did not appear to them, and disputed Aaron’s call to repentance, asking how Aaron could know the thoughts of their hearts or that they were not righteous. He said the people had built sanctuaries and assembled to worship God, and that they believed God would save all men (Alma 21:5-6).

Aaron asked whether he believed the Son of God would come to redeem mankind from their sins. The man answered that they did not believe Aaron knew any such thing, calling it foolish tradition, and rejected the idea that prophets could know things to come. When Aaron opened the scriptures to explain the coming of Christ, the resurrection, and the atonement of his blood, the man and the others grew angry, mocked him, and would not listen. Aaron then left the synagogue and went to the village of Ani-Anti, where Muloki was already preaching (Alma 21:7-11).
