앰노어

Amnor was one of the four Nephite spies dispatched by Alma the Younger, who was then the chief judge and military leader of the Nephites, during the period of civil unrest around 87 B.C. (Alma 2:22). The other spies included Zeram, Manti, and Limher. Their mission was to observe the movements of the Amlicites, a group of Nephite dissenters led by the self-proclaimed king Amlici, who had caused a significant rift within Nephite society.

Amnor and his companions returned with urgent news that not only had the Amlicites established a camp, but they had also joined forces with a large army of Lamanites. This combined force was advancing toward the Nephite inhabitants with intentions of conquest and bloodshed (Alma 2:23-25). The intelligence provided by Amnor and the other spies was crucial in preparing the Nephite army for the ensuing battle, during which Alma’s forces eventually triumphed over the Amlicite-Lamanite coalition. Beyond his involvement in this critical reconnaissance mission, further details about Amnor’s life and exploits are not chronicled in Nephite records.
