아모스²

Amos², son of the first Amos and grandson of Nephi, took up the Nephite record at his father’s death, 194 years from the coming of Christ, and kept it on the plates of Nephi (4 Nephi 1:21).

During his tenure the Nephites began to be lifted up in pride, wearing costly apparel and fine things, and from that time held their goods no longer in common. They divided into classes, built up churches to get gain, and denied the true church of Christ (4 Nephi 1:24-26). Those who rejected the gospel were called Lamanites, Lemuelites, and Ishmaelites; by the 244th year the wicked had grown more numerous than the people of God, and they rebuilt the secret oaths and combinations of Gadianton (4 Nephi 1:38-42).

Amos² kept the record about 111 years. After 305 years had passed, with the people still in wickedness, he died, and his brother Ammaron kept the record in his stead (4 Nephi 1:47).
