Chemish was a Nephite record keeper, the son of Omni and brother of Amaron, who wrote a short entry in the Book of Omni on the small plates of Nephi. His own account is brief: he records that he writes “what few things I write, in the same book with my brother,” keeping the record according to the commandment of their fathers (Omni 1:9).
Amaron delivered the plates to Chemish, and Chemish saw that the last words his brother wrote were written in his own hand on the day he handed over the record (Omni 1:8). Chemish then passed the plates to his son Abinadom (Omni 1:10).
