The children of Ammon were an ancient Near Eastern people descended from Lot, the nephew of Abraham. They are named once in the Book of Mormon, in Nephi’s quotation of Isaiah’s prophecy of Israel’s gathering. After the envy between Ephraim and Judah departs and the two cease to vex each other (2 Nephi 21:13), they together fly upon the shoulders of the Philistines toward the west, spoil the people of the east, and lay their hand upon Edom and Moab; the children of Ammon, with them, shall obey (2 Nephi 21:14; Isaiah 11:14).
