In the days of Enos, a great many prophets were among the Nephites, who were a stubborn people, hard to reach (Enos 1:22). The record names none of them individually and preserves none of their personal histories; they are noted only as a group.
Enos describes their preaching as nothing but harsh: they foretold wars, conflict, and destruction, and continually reminded the people of death, eternity, and the judgments and power of God. Only such blunt, plain preaching kept the people from quickly falling into destruction (Enos 1:23).
