Heth was a Jaredite, son of Hearthom, named in the genealogy of Ether. Hearthom had the kingdom taken from him after reigning twenty-four years and served the rest of his life in captivity (Ether 10:30); Heth was born into that captivity and “lived in captivity all his days” (Ether 10:31).
Heth fathered Aaron, who also dwelt in captivity all his days. The captivity continued through Heth’s grandson Amnigaddah and his great-grandson Coriantum, each of whom lived out his life in bondage. It ended with Heth’s great-great-grandson Com, who drew away half the kingdom and fought the king Amgid until he gained power over the whole of it (Ether 10:31-32).
