예레미야²

Jeremiah holds the distinction of being among the twelve disciples called by the resurrected Jesus Christ to minister to the Nephites in the Promised Land. His selection is a testament to the trust and authority bestowed upon him by the Savior to further the work of the Church in the aftermath of Christ’s visitation to the Promised Land. Though specific details of his ministry are sparse, Jeremiah’s role as one of Christ’s chosen disciples suggests a dedication to teaching, baptizing, and spreading the message of the gospel among the people (3 Nephi 19:4).

As with his fellow disciples, Jeremiah was likely present at the significant gathering where Jesus delivered a version of the Sermon on the Mount to the Nephites, imparting teachings that would shape the religious and ethical foundation of Nephite society (3 Nephi 12:1). His ministry, imbued with divine authority, would have played a vital part in the miraculous outpouring of the Spirit and the establishment of the Church, acting as one of the leaders in a time of great spiritual awakening among the people (3 Nephi 28:1-3).

Jeremiah’s inclusion in the scriptural record as a disciple serves as both an acknowledgment of his role in Nephite history and as a witness to the Savior’s organized efforts to establish His church and guide His followers in the Promised Land. Through his service, Jeremiah contributed to the lasting legacy of the Savior’s visit and the teachings He imparted.
