Josh was one of the Nephite commanders who fell at the final battle against the Lamanites at the hill Cumorah, around AD 385. He led a division of ten thousand, as did the other commanders named in the account of that battle (Mormon 6:14).
Josh is listed with Lamah, Gilgal, Limhah, Jeneum, Cumenihah, Moronihah, Antionum, Shiblom, and Shem, each of whom had fallen with his ten thousand. The Nephite forces were destroyed, leaving only twenty-four survivors, among them Mormon and his son Moroni, along with a few who had fled south or deserted to the Lamanites (Mormon 6:14).
