쿠멘

Kumen was one of the twelve disciples handpicked by Jesus Christ during His post-resurrection ministry among the Nephites in the Promised Land. This selection is indicative of Kumen’s spiritual stature and readiness to serve in this critical role within the nascent Church established by Christ among His people in the Promised Land. His calling is briefly documented, confirming his presence with the other disciples at a key moment when Christ was gathering His followers and establishing His teachings (3 Nephi 19:4).

Though the scriptural record provides limited details about Kumen’s life and ministry, his selection by Jesus Christ as a disciple underscores his significant commitment and faithfulness. The title of disciple, in this context, is synonymous with that of an apostle, which signifies that Kumen was entrusted with the authority and responsibility to teach the principles of the gospel and provide spiritual leadership to the people. Kumen’s service paralleled that of the Twelve Disciples in Jerusalem, playing a central role in the ministry of Christ among the people following His resurrection and setting a foundational example for all future leaders of the Church. As a disciple, Kumen would have participated in witnessing the teachings and miracles of Jesus, shared in the divine commission to teach and baptize, and contributed to the spread of the Savior’s message among the Nephites (3 Nephi 12:1; 28:1-3).
