Lib was a Jaredite king who took the throne after the death of his father, Kish, grandson of Corom (Ether 10:18). The record says Lib “did that which was good in the sight of the Lord.” In his days the poisonous serpents were destroyed, so the people went into the land southward to hunt the game that covered it, and Lib himself became a great hunter (Ether 10:19).

Under Lib the Jaredites built a great city by the narrow neck of land, at the place where the sea divides the land, and preserved the land southward as a wilderness for game while the land northward filled with people (Ether 10:20-21). They worked all manner of ore — gold, silver, iron, copper, brass — made silks and fine-twined linen, fashioned tools for farming and weapons of war, and traded with one another for gain (Ether 10:22-27). The record states that no people were ever more blessed or more prospered by the hand of the Lord, in a land that was choice above all lands (Ether 10:28).

Lib lived many years and had sons and daughters, including Hearthom, who reigned after him (Ether 10:29).
