An unnamed prophet whom Nephi quotes in 1 Nephi 22:15-17, introduced with the formula “saith the prophet” that Nephi also uses for the words he draws from the brass plates (compare 1 Nephi 19:12-17). Nephi gives no name and no further identification.
The quoted prophet says that the time comes speedily when Satan will have no more power over the hearts of men, and that the proud and the wicked will be as stubble and be burned (1 Nephi 22:15). The fulness of God’s wrath will be poured out, but God will not allow the wicked to destroy the righteous (1 Nephi 22:16). He will preserve the righteous by his power, even unto the destruction of their enemies by fire, so that the righteous need not fear but will be saved “even if it so be as by fire” (1 Nephi 22:17).
