Nimrod is the “mighty hunter” after whom the Jaredite valley of Nimrod was named; he does not otherwise appear in the record (Ether 2:1).
After the Lord told the brother of Jared to gather his flocks, seed, families, and friends and go down into the valley which was northward, Jared, his brother, and their company went down into that valley, called Nimrod, with their flocks and stores (Ether 1:41-43, 2:1). There the Lord came down and talked with the brother of Jared from within a cloud, and directed them to go forth into the wilderness toward the land choice above all others (Ether 2:4-5).
