니므롯²

Nimrod was a Jaredite, son of Cohor, in the line of Jaredite kings who contested the throne with Shule. Cohor, son of Noah, ruled one of two divided kingdoms and gave battle to Shule, who beat his forces and slew him. Nimrod then gave up the kingdom of Cohor to Shule and gained favor in his eyes, so that Shule bestowed great favors on him and let him act in the kingdom according to his desires (Ether 7:22).

During Shule’s reign, prophets sent from the Lord warned that the people’s wickedness and idolatry would bring a curse on the land unless they repented. When the people reviled and mocked the prophets, Shule executed judgment against those who did so and passed a law giving the prophets liberty to go wherever they would, by which the people were brought to repentance (Ether 7:23-25).
