Seezoram was a Nephite chief judge, murdered by his brother Seantum, who stabbed him at the judgment-seat and fled (Helaman 9:6). Both brothers belonged to the secret band of Gadianton, and Seantum killed Seezoram seeking to take the judgment-seat for himself (Helaman 8:27-28).

The prophet Nephi, son of Helaman, declared the murder to the people before it was discovered, telling them to go to the judgment-seat and find their judge dead in his blood (Helaman 8:27). Five men ran to the seat, found the chief judge slain, and fell to the earth in fear; when the people gathered, they took the five for the murderers and imprisoned them (Helaman 9:1-9). On the following day the people assembled to mourn and fast at the burial of the chief judge (Helaman 9:10).

Nephi was then accused of conspiring in the murder. He gave the people a sign: he sent them to Seantum’s house with questions Seantum would answer, foretold that they would find blood on the skirts of his cloak, and that under examination Seantum would deny the crime, turn pale, and finally confess. Events followed exactly as Nephi said; Seantum confessed to the murder, the five men and Nephi were set free (Helaman 9:23–36).
