Shem was a Nephite military commander who led a unit of ten thousand soldiers at the final battle at Cumorah, around AD 385. After the Nephites gathered the remainder of their people to the land of Cumorah, the Lamanite armies fell upon them. Shem fell with his ten thousand, named among the other Nephite commanders whose units were likewise destroyed: Cumenihah, Moronihah, Antionum, Shiblom, and Josh, each with their ten thousand, alongside Lamah, Gilgal, Limhah, and Jeneum (Mormon 6:14).
