시블론

Shiblon was the second son of Alma the Younger. Around 74 BC his father took him and his brother Corianton, but not the eldest son Helaman, to preach among the Zoramites (Alma 31:7). On that mission Shiblon was put in bonds and stoned for preaching the word (Alma 38:4).

Alma later gave Shiblon personal counsel, commending his steadiness, faithfulness, diligence, and patience among the Zoramites (Alma 38:2-4). He told Shiblon that the Lord had delivered him and would deliver him from his trials as he trusted in God, and that salvation comes only through Christ (Alma 38:5, 9). He grounded this counsel in his own experience of conversion, testifying that it was the Spirit of God within him that made these things known, “for if I had not been born of God I should not have known these things”—then recounting the angel who stopped his destructive course and the three days of anguish before he cried unto Christ and found peace (Alma 38:6-8). He charged him to keep teaching, to stay diligent and temperate, to avoid pride and idleness, and to bridle his passions so as to be filled with love (Alma 38:10-14).

In 72 BC the church had peace and prosperity through the preaching of Shiblon, Helaman, Corianton, Ammon, and others ordained to the holy order (Alma 49:30). In 56 BC Shiblon took possession of the sacred records that Alma had delivered to his brother Helaman (Alma 63:1). He was a just man who walked uprightly before God and kept the commandments (Alma 63:2).

Before his death in 53 BC, Shiblon conferred the sacred records on his nephew Helaman, son of Helaman, since his brother Corianton had gone by ship to the land northward (Alma 63:11).
