Timothy was one of the twelve disciples Jesus chose to lead his church among the Nephites after his resurrection. He is named in the list of the twelve as the brother of Nephi, “whom he had raised from the dead”; Nephi’s son Jonas is named among the disciples alongside them (3 Nephi 19:4).
Before Christ’s appearance, Timothy had been stoned and put to death by the people, and Nephi raised him from the dead in the name of Jesus (3 Nephi 7:19). The people who saw it were angry at Nephi because of his power, and he went on to perform many more miracles among them (3 Nephi 7:18, 20).
When Jesus chose the twelve, Nephi went into the water and baptized all of them, Timothy among them. After their baptism the Holy Ghost fell on them and they were encircled by fire; angels came down and ministered to them, and then Jesus came and stood in their midst and ministered to them (3 Nephi 19:11-15).
