Tubaloth was a Lamanite king who reigned during a tumultuous period marked by political instability and military conflicts with the Nephites around 51 B.C. He was the son of Ammoron, following in the line of succession from a lineage notable for its contentious relationship with the Nephites. In an effort to assert dominance and possibly exploit the chaotic conditions among the Nephites, Tubaloth appointed a Nephite dissenter named Coriantumr—descended from the Mulekite lineage of Zarahemla—to command his armies. Coriantumr was tasked with leading a strategic offensive against the Nephite heartland, specifically targeting the capital city of Zarahemla (Helaman 1:16-17). This military campaign, under the leadership of Coriantumr, was initially successful in capturing Zarahemla; however, the gains were short-lived as Nephite forces, guided by generals Moronihah and Lehi, mounted a successful counteroffensive. The Lamanite forces were consequently defeated, and Coriantumr lost his life in battle. The subsequent fate or actions of Tubaloth are not detailed further in the record. His reign stands as an example of the continued hostilities and power struggles that characterized Nephite-Lamanite relations during this period.
