Zedekiah² was one of the twelve disciples Jesus Christ chose during his ministry among the people in the land of promise after his resurrection. He is named in the list of the twelve, alongside Nephi, Timothy, Jonas, Mathoni, Mathonihah, Kumen, Kumenonhi, Jeremiah, Shemnon, a second Jonas, and Isaiah (3 Nephi 19:4). The twelve received power and authority to baptize, and Jesus told the multitude to give heed to the words of those he had chosen to minister to them (3 Nephi 12:1).
Jesus gave the disciples power to baptize after his ascension and instructed them in the manner of baptism (3 Nephi 11:19-22). He later touched each of them and gave them power to give the Holy Ghost (3 Nephi 18:36-37). The disciples healed the sick, raised the dead, and worked miracles among the people, doing so only in the name of Jesus (4 Nephi 1:5).
