The fields near Shilom were farmland and grazing ground south of the land of Shilom, worked by the Nephites under King Zeniff for watering and feeding their flocks and tilling their crops (Mosiah 9:14).
In the thirteenth year of Zeniff’s reign, while his people were tending the flocks and fields, a numerous host of Lamanites attacked them there, killing many and carrying off their flocks and the corn of their fields (Mosiah 9:14).
