육지를 나누는 바다

야렛의 땅에 있는 만리장성

육지를 나누는 바다

The place where the sea divides the land is named once in the Jaredite record, as the location of a great city the people built “by the narrow neck of land” in the days of the king Lib (Ether 10:20). The city is not named.

The notice falls within an account of Lib’s reign. The poisonous serpents that had earlier blocked the way south were destroyed in his time, so the people went into the land southward to hunt, finding it covered with animals of the forest; Lib himself became a great hunter (Ether 10:19). They kept the land southward as a wilderness for game while the land northward filled with inhabitants (Ether 10:21). Under Lib the people prospered, with grain, silks, fine linen, gold, silver, and many kinds of animals useful for food (Ether 9:17-19), and they worked ore of gold, silver, iron, and copper, digging it from the earth (Ether 10:23).
