Nephi³ was the Nephite prophet who ministered in the years before Christ’s appearance, after the government had collapsed and the people had separated into tribes by family and kindred (3 Nephi 7:2-4, 7:14). Having been visited by angels and the voice of the Lord, he was an eyewitness given power to know concerning the ministry of Christ (3 Nephi 7:15). He went among the people and testified boldly of repentance and remission of sins through faith in Jesus Christ, ministering with great authority (3 Nephi 7:16-17).
Angels ministered to Nephi³ daily, on account of his faith in Jesus Christ. The people were angry with him because he had greater power than they and they could not disbelieve his words (3 Nephi 7:18). In the name of Jesus he cast out devils and unclean spirits, and raised his own brother from the dead after the brother had been stoned and killed by the people (3 Nephi 7:19).
