호렙

Horeb is the mountain called “the mountain of God,” where Moses kept Jethro’s flock and came to the burning bush and spoke with God (Exodus 3:1). The Book of Mormon names it once: in the resurrected Christ’s quotation of Malachi to the Nephites, the Lord says he commanded the law of Moses “in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments” (3 Nephi 25:4; compare Malachi 4:4).

In the biblical account Horeb is the site of Israel’s encampment and the giving of the law to Moses, when thunders, lightnings, and a thick cloud covered the mount (Exodus 19:16). Horeb is often equated with Mount Sinai, though whether the two names mark the same place is disputed.
