Pole is the object upon whose end Moroni fastened a piece of his rent coat. He wrote on the cloth, “In memory of our God, our religion, and freedom, and our peace, our wives, and our children,” before fastening it upon the pole (Alma 46:12).
Moroni took the pole with “his rent coat” on its end and called it “the title of liberty.” He then bowed to the earth and prayed for “the blessings of liberty” to rest upon his brethren (Alma 46:13).
