Timber is wood used for construction. A person caused “works of timbers built up to the height of a man” on ridges of earth around cities and placed “a frame of pickets built upon the timbers round about” those works (Alma 50:2-3).
A person caused a breastwork of timbers on the inner bank of a ditch, and the Lamanites encircled Bountiful with “a strong wall of timbers and earth, to an exceeding height” (Alma 53:4). In the land northward, people allowed trees to grow so they could have timber “to build their houses, yea, their cities, and their temples” (Helaman 3:9-10).
