The secret places in the mountains and the wilderness where the band of Gadianton took its flight “by a secret way” when Kishkumen did not return (Helaman 2:11), and from which the robbers sallied out upon the people for a generation — so strong in their strongholds that the armies of the Nephites and Lamanites together could not destroy them (Helaman 11:25-33). From these haunts Giddianhi and Zemnarihah came down to the great siege war (3 Nephi 4:1).
