Sidom was a Nephite land near Ammonihah where Alma and Amulek went after being commanded to leave Ammonihah. There they found the people who had been cast out and stoned for believing Alma’s words. Zeezrom, a former opponent of Alma and Amulek, lay sick at Sidom with a burning fever brought on by guilt over his wickedness, supposing the two had been slain on account of his sin. When he learned they were in the land, he sent for them; Alma asked whether he believed in the power of Christ unto salvation, and on Zeezrom’s affirming faith, Alma asked the Lord to heal him. Zeezrom rose and walked, to the astonishment of the people, and word of it spread throughout the land (Alma 15:3-11).
Alma baptized Zeezrom, who then began to preach. Alma established a church in Sidom and consecrated priests and teachers to baptize all who desired it; converts flocked in from the region round about (Alma 15:13-14). The people were checked in their pride and began to humble themselves, assembling at their sanctuaries to worship (Alma 15:17). Alma then took Amulek to Zarahemla, to his own house (Alma 15:18).
