Sword of Laban is a sword Nephi took, “and after the manner of it did make many swords,” because he knew the Lamanites’ hatred toward him, his children, and his people (2 Nephi 5:14).
Nephi had “wielded the sword of Laban in their defence” and had labored in all his days for the people’s welfare (Jacob 1:10). King Benjamin fought the Lamanite armies “with the strength of his own arm, with the sword of Laban” (Words of Mormon 1:13).
The sword of Laban was given in charge with the plates of brass, the plates of Nephi, and the ball or director (Mosiah 1:16).
